Sadness

Can we give ourselves permission to be sad, to rest

in the notes of grief and not feel less than whole because

the word happy does not fall from our lips

can we learn to accept ourselves in all states of being

and honor the tears that slip from our eyes

when sadness appears with no announcement can

we welcome it to sit with us and share its thoughts

can we embrace ourselves with all our imperfections

and dance with arms outstretched holding no partner

knowing that the invisible link with God is there

every step of the way holding us and accepting us

with all His unconditional love
